From the Mayor’s Chair – April 18

Check out the latest version of From the Mayor’s Chair, where I break down the decisions of Council in 2 minutes!

Highlights from the April 18 Council meeting include the Council’s approval of the closure of the Ryandale Shelter as recommended by City staff due to a reduction in use thanks to the City’s Homelessness Plan. Council also endorsed phase 2 of the Rideau Heights Regeneration Strategy, which will include a new road network, updates to some existing town houses and revitalized park. And finally, with the Third Crossing set to come back to Council in June, City staff are hosting two public open houses next week – April 26 and 27.

Just a question of why the City is not addressing the garbage and debris strewn around so many student housing residences in the “University District”. If one needs to see for themselves, take a drive down Johnson or up Brock Streets. Why is the City not enforcing its Property Standards By-laws?
